Taxons dedicated to Grigore Antipa https://travaux.pensoft.net/article/38595/ Travaux du Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle “Grigore Antipa” 62(1): 137-159

DOI: 10.3897/travaux.62.e38595

Authors: Ana-Maria Petrescu, Melania Stan, Iorgu Petrescu

Abstract: A comprehensive list of the taxons dedicated to Grigore Antipa by collaborators, science personalities who appreciated his work was constituted from surveying the natural history or science museums or university collections from several countries (Romania, Germany, Australia, Israel and United States). The list consists of 33 taxons, with current nomenclature and position in a collection. Historical aspects have been discussed, in order to provide a depth to the process of collection dissapearance during more than one century of Romanian zoological research. Natural calamities, wars and the evictions of the museum’s buildings that followed, and sometimes the neglection of the collections following the decease of their founder, are the major problems that contributed gradually to the transformation of the taxon/specimen into a historical landmark and not as an accessible object of further taxonomical inquiry.

A revision of Agonopterix lacteella (Lepidoptera: Depressariidae) and establishing A. pallidior as a junior synonym https://travaux.pensoft.net/article/38485/ Travaux du Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle “Grigore Antipa” 62(1): 87-98

DOI: 10.3897/travaux.62.e38485

Authors: Peter Buchner, Mihai Stănescu

Abstract: Agonopterix lacteella (Caradja, 1920) was described on the basis of a single female specimen collected at Kasakewitsch, Russian Far East. Later on, A. pallidior (Stringer, 1930) was described, based on 6 specimens from Japan. Both descriptions where based only on the external appearance and published without illustrations, making subsequent accurate identification of both these species difficult. A subsequent comparison of A. lacteella holotype with the type series of A. pallidior revealed a perfect match. However, since the holotype of A. pallidior is a male whilst A. lacteella’s holotype is a female, a revision based on a direct comparison of the genitalia features of these two types is not possible. Hence, the female genitalia of A. lacteella holotype was compared with the genitalia of a female specimen identified as A. pallidior. A perfect match was found, which leaves no doubt that both taxa are conspecific. Details and consequences of this result for the systematic position of these two taxa, as well as for their relationship with other similar, cognate species are presented. In addition, new data regarding the distribution and biology of A. lacteella are presented.

DOI: 10.3897/travaux.62.e38597

Authors: Liudmyla Gaponova

Abstract: AbstractThe catalogue of cyclopoid copepods collected by A. Damian-Georgescu in Romania and deposited in “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History is presented. It includes 39 species and subspecies belonging to family Cyclopidae (Crustacea: Copepoda). Type material of Eucyclops graeteri intermedius Damian, 1955 is designated. For each species the following information is presented: collecting sites, data on general distribution in Romania and worldwide, and types of inhabited biotopes.
